World Most Expensive Artwork Sold For 200 MILLION POUNDS
Now it is just a simple drawing that would not readily attract your eyes for a second look! In fact you could walk past it and laugh because a primary school kid could draw better! But it just got sold for 200 million pounds!!!
The world's most expensive art by French, Paul Gaugin titled Nafea Faa Ipoipo (When Will You Marry?) was bought for that exact amount by an art lover in the oil rich nation of Qatar from the private collector, Rudolf Staechelin, who is a retired Sotheby's executive from Basel, Switzerland.
This is the second time Qatar will be setting milestones in the artworld financial power art purchase as the previous record in 2011 when it paid $259 million for The Card Players by Paul Cezanne.
Staechelin had sold the artwork after withdrawing all his artwork from the Kunstmuseum after a 60-year loan expired. The expiration is said to have come after a fall-out with the museum.
