I Was A Gospel Singer but it Never Sold……..Singer, M. Bryo
Rugged Records label artiste, M.Bryo, has revealed that in an interview with Punch Newspaper that he was once a gospel artiste due to the training he got as a choir boy in his father's church.
The singer whose mother abandoned him and his sister at age five, explained that his choice of music as a career was not favourable and supported by his parents as he was chased out of the house which made him start sleeping in the studio.
M.Bryo explained that while going into music, he started as a gospel singer with the name 'G-in-Jah' but had to change his style of music because of his record label who advised him that gospel music does not sell.
“I started as a gospel artiste but the management I was with then said I had to rebrand because gospel music in Nigeria does not sell. I changed my name and my style. My name was 'G-in-Jah' meaning Guy in Jehovah but I changed it to M.Bryo and it is an acronym for Music. Build Right Your Optimism.”
