President Jonathan Unveils New100 Naira Note

President Goodluck Jonathan has unveiled the new N100 note for the country. The new money is to commemorate Nigeria's centenary. The President unveiled the banknote at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the new note will be in circulation from November 19, 2014.

Portrait of Chief Obafemi Awolowo on the former N100 note was retained in the new one and a raised embossed line for the visually impaired is in the new note. It also has a QR Code incorporated into it to make the note digital and also to store significant information that highlights the 100 years journey of Nigeria.

The new note is reportedly the first banknote to use smart phones as identity and security tool for de-encrypting its information.

On December 17, a film show on how to check the new note will hold.
