Some years ago, Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly abandoned Deeper Life after being there for five years to start his own church. The clergy, who will turn 60 on the November 11, 2014, gave the main reason he left the Pastor Kumuyi-led church.

According to him, he was with the Deeper Life Church from 1978 to 1983, but left when the television set was referred to as devil's box.
