An unremorseful 60 year-old man, Edekin Ojaogbe, who defiled a 13-year-old girl in Edo State, confessed to be in love with the under-aged.

He maintained that she willingly gave him herself to be molested, “I was at home when this girl went to the toilet. I called her and told her that I need her. She now came to me, we entered my room and I locked the door and the window and I slept with her. It was later when I went to mould block that I was told that policemen from Afuze came to arrest me. My people begged the girl's parents but they were angry. I have slept with her three times because I love the small girl. I was married, but I am not with my wife anymore. I have three children.”

In a similar development, two persons were shot dead at the early hours of yesterday in a suspected war between two rival cult groups in the State capital.

The Edo State Police Command paraded 46 suspected armed robbers, cultists, paedophiles, including the 60 years old man who defiled the 13-year-old girl.

The killings shocked residents of Oluku area as they woke up to see two dead bodies dropped by the road side. The Edo State Police Commissioner, Funso Adebanjo, who paraded the 46 suspects, said the police were on the trail of the killers, whom he described as “useless”.

Some of the items recovered from the suspects included 20 guns, 192 live cartridges, 9 cars and 12 cutlasses.

Adebanjo recalled that “early this month, we paraded 68 suspected criminals and today we are parading 46 suspected criminals made up of armed robbers, kidnappers and people involved in rape, defilement of minors and people waging war against communities.

“These people were rounded up from different parts of the state. The command remains grateful to the people of the state for their support so far. We all must collaborate with the police and I am happy Edo is the safest state in the South-South. But we are worried about old men defiling little children, we must kick against that in our society. Honestly, the situation is worrisome and those of them who are involved in it must be dealt with. If it is a curse we will clear it from their heads because their action for me, is madness” he stated.
