Benue First Lady Honours Tricia Eseigbe's ‘The Psychologist’ Project (Pictures)

In 2013, respected and celebrated actress-cum-television presenter, Tricia Eseigbe Kerry launched her pet project, 'Psychologist on the Move'. The initiative has received several commendations from many people, including the former Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar, who not only endorsed it, but involved the Nigeria Police in the project.

'Psychologist on the Move' is an initiative of the sultry and talented actress that campaigns against child sexual abuse and working tirelessly to protect victims as well as build their psyches. Before now, victims have lived a rejected and dejected life, but since the programme berthed, they have had a sense of belonging and a reason to live.

The project, which also addresses and enlightens the communities about pedophiles and ways to prevent the sexual abuse of children, also encourages victims of child sexual abuse to come out and tell their stories.

Not too long ago, Tricia, who is on a nationwide tour to promote the programme, visited Benue State, where she was received by the state government.

During the visit, at the State House in Makurdi, the state capital, the First Lady of Benue State, Mrs Yemisi Suswam, on behalf of the state, presented Tricia with a Special Award of Excellence for her fight against child sexual abuse in Nigeria.

While presenting her with the award, the First Lady said that it's bad enough to have a present generation that is morally bankrupt and even worse to sow a seed of bitterness and pollution in the next generation. She firmly urged parents, police, lawmakers to join hands with 'The Psychologist' to criminalize and eradicate child sexual abuse in Nigeria.

She commended the Nigeria Police for partnering with 'The Psychologist' team and further encouraged them to continue the wonderful works they have been doing on security in Benue State.

Those who witnessed the presentation include the Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Adams Audu, who represented the Nigeria Police, and was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Raula Audu Adams, a strong supporter of 'The Psychologist'. Also at the event was the Benue State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Mrs. Elizabeth Allagh.

In her remarks, Tricia, who accepted the award, thanked the state government and people of the state for the love and wonderful reception she got. She encouraged victims of child sexual abuse to stay positive in the fight against the evil act, believing justice will surely come to them some day.

She also called on the people across the country to report any case of child abuse or molestation.
