As the Nollywood industry strives to upgrade its style of shooting movies and other corresponding challenges to keep abreast of developing trends, makeup has recently been an issue about the industry in the lips of potential viewers.

Professional makeup artists and beauty expert, Vanessa Odofin has disclosed that makeup in most Nollywood movies do not portray the characters suitably enough for the roles they play.

Vanessa emphasized those makeup artists in the country need to be well trained in order to meet up international standard both for private and in movie production.

“Makeup artists in the movie industry need to be professionally trained in order to deliver world class services that will better portray characters in ways they should be,” she noted.

She believes that a touch of professionalism would go a long way in upgrading the standard of the makeup artists and in turn impact the movie industry positively.

“It is the job of a makeup artist to convey believability for instance in the transition of a teenager to an adult in a movie without changing the character and this I believe our Nollywood practitioners are not doing enough, though there are some exceptions to the rule,” she added.
