The Nigerian Army has adjusted the dusk-to-dawn curfew in Adamawa State following the explosions that occurred last Friday, killing at least 50 people.

The curfew was previously observed between 11pm-5am but will now be between 7pm-5am starting from yesterday, March 2, 2014 till further notice.

This was indicated in a press statement by the Army Public Relations Officer (APRO), Captain Nuhu Jafaru.

He said the review is a step taken to strengthen security in the state, urging the public to comply with the new order as it is meant to enhance the safety of lives and properties of the people in the state.

It would be recalled that Adamawa State is among the three northern states where state of emergency was declared by President Goodluck Jonathan in May 2013, following the increase in attacks by Boko Haram insurgents.

This is the fourth time the curfew is being reviewed in the state since the emergency rule was declared. It had previously been relaxed by the military due to successes recorded in the war against insurgents.
