Koko master, Dbanj drew the ire of popular broadcaster, Funmi Iyanda on New Year day when he failed to show up as one of the guests on the annual CHANGE A LIFE SHOW on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA. Dbanj, widely advertised to be on the show alongside other guests- the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), On- Air-Personality, Tolu Oniru Toolz of Beat FM, radio personality, Watse Uwatse, PR consultant and broadcaster, Sola Salako, popular blogger, Emmy Collins and fashionista cum publisher, Susan Eyo-Honesty, according to Funmi expressed his inability to make the show at the last minute. Apparently piqued, Funmi announced the failure of Dbanj to make the show during the live transmission of the programme. She described the action of Dbanj as unfair and condemned it in strong terms. It is on record that music icon, 2face Idibia had been a guest on the show, mentored the children, produced and performed one of his songs with the excited kids

Though no reason was adduced for the pop star's absence on the show that has been running for the past 12 years and have featured top celebrities and succesive governors of Lagos, Dbanj was among the artistes on the bill of the Lagos Countdown concert that was concluded at the dawn of the first day of the New Year. As at 4:30 AM he was still on stage. Fashola who spoke on women, their rights, law and security in the state also presented awards to some outstanding participants of the CHANGE A LIFE project and encouraged them to keep it up
