Finally, the duo of Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe-Gentry has put to rest speculations that they are rivals as insinuated by their fans. For some time now, there have been notions that the two celebrity actresses were at loggerheads due to a perceived rivalry between them.

Recall that Funke Akindele released a comic movie, Jenifa, which shot her into an astronomical limelight. Soon after, Mercy shot her own film, Osas, also a comic flick, and many immediately deduced that she was copying Funke's 'Jenifa'. After that, fans of the two star actresses started a rivalry war.

However, at the Miss Global Nigeria Pageant held on July 28, 2013 in Lagos, Funke and Mercy got along with each other to the amazement of some of their fans. An astonished fan at the event asked Nollywoodgists.com that 'I thought Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe were fighting?' but as hosts of the pageant alongside Funke Kuti, the two actresses flowed well with each other, an indication that the widely reported crisis might have been an imagination of 'mischief makers.'
