Nollywood Kick Against Appointment Of Marine Engr. As NFC Boss

There is a storm presently brewing in the Nollywood and if not quickly calmed, it could turn out to something disastrous. The reason is not far-fetched. The movie industry players are not happy with President Goodluck Jonathan over the appointment of Danjuma Dabo as head of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC).

In a Blackberry protest, stakeholders in the motion pictures industry in Nigeria believe it is an insult to appoint Dabo, who is a Marine Engineer, to overseer the creative industry, especially Nollywood, which is the second largest film producing industry in the world.

Leading the campaign is the president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ibinabo Fiberesima. She called on other stakeholders in the industry to kick against the appointment calling it a 'height of insult and a big slap on the faces of filmmakers."

Her Blackberry broadcast reads;

"This is the height of insult and a big slap on the face of film makers and the entire stakeholders of the film industry in Nigeria. How can a Marine Engr. be made the MD/CEO of Nigerian Film Corporation?

"The govt. might as well make a furniture maker the new health minister or a farmer the Attorney-General or Solicitor-General of the country.

"DO NOT GIVE US YOUR CANDIDATE TO FULFILL YOUR PROMISES, WE NEED PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND OUR TERRAIN. How ridiculous can we get?

"All true blue practitioners should rise and say no to this. We need professionals who understand the challenges of our growing industry. This is a NO to this appointment. Pls pass on."

This message can massive re-broadcast by those who reasoned with the former beauty queen. They opined that the Federal Government erred in this one. They called on President Jonathan to reverse the appointment and put a professional for the job.
