THE SHRINE NOT A DEN OF ROBBERS —YENI
The late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's first child, Yeni, has said that The New Afrika Shrine is not a den of robbers.
Speaking with us, Yeni said that the police that raided the shrine are looking for a way to cover up their misdeeds.
Reacting to the 15 December raid, Yeni said that the police action was uncalled for, asking, even if they were raiding an area, why should they break into her office and that of Femi?
She wondered if Femi's saxophone and clothes have becomegun or drugs, saying, “we do legal business at the Afrika Shrine and not the business of selling drugs.”
A disturbed Yeni disclosed that she has spent a lot of money to repair the door and other items that were damaged during the illegal raid.
“We have been working with the police in the last seven years and maintain a good relationship with them. This raid definitely is uncalled for,” she said, promising, however, not to rest on her oars until justice is done, because, according to her, the illegal raid may continue.
