Unarguably one of the most anticipated awards in Nollywood in recent times, the AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) holds today, Saturday, March 9, 2013 in Lagos.

Though in its maiden edition, the awards, going by the feelers around, may finally be the Africa's Oscar Awards many have been waiting for as it is in Hollywood.

What seems to make this awards special might be the 'Africa Magic' in it. It is a known fact that the DSTV's Africa Magic channel is dedicated to Nollywood movies, a favourite station of most housewives and movie lovers who are addicted to Nigerian films.

Also, the idea of the viewers being the decider of the awards' winner might also make it special, making it a truly 'viewers' choice awards'.

Later today, the event would be beamed live to viewers as heavyweights in Nollywood step out to grace the occasion. What are your expectations?
