UN JOB, A SURPRISE TO ME –D’BANJ
It's celebration galore for the Koko Master, D'banj.
The singer, who is billed to host this year's edition of 'The Channel O Music Video Awards' told 'Showbiznow' in a telephone chat that he was shocked when he got a letter from the United Nations (UN), declaring him an Ambassador of the organisation
“I was shocked when I received a letter from the United Nations appointing me Peace Ambassador. I had been preparing for the MOBO and Channel O Awards when the letter came. This appointment has superceded all that.”
According to him: “I never expected this honour. I want to thank God Almighty for the elevation. I also want to thank the UN for deaming me worthy of such an exhalted position. I would use my position to pursue peace in troubled regions of the world.”
With the appointment, he will represent the UN wherever he goes across the globe. He is the first Nigerian to be so honoured.
Meanwhile, the multiple award-winning artiste is poised to sweep laurels at the forthcoming MOBO Awards and Channel O Music Video Awards.
