WHO IS PHINA BROOKS?

Phina Brooks, a Canada-based Nigerian Filmmaker born in Warri, Delta state Nigeria. The debonair filmmaker started out in Lagos Nigeria where she discovered her raw talent in the film and television industry. Her time spent with Swift Studios under the guidance and influence of Lloyd Weaver in Nigeria was a major influence for her work. She quickly moved up through the ranks from Production Assistant/Makeup Artist to Associate Producer. Even at a young age, she wanted to write, produce and direct her own films.

Phina was very much involved in various projects in Nigeria including co-presenting a youth opinion television show “Youth Scene” and acted in numerous television series such as “Blossom”, “The Third Eye”, “Mirror In The Sun” as well as acted in various Nigerian movies. She is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian Movie industry. She has worked on hundreds of TV commercials and co-produced and featured in commercials such as the First Nicon Noga Hilton Hotel Abuja television commercials. She wrote, produced and directed a political campaign commercial for presidential candidate titled “For Bingo”. Phina has featured in various music videos with Blakky “Bang Belly”, Mike Okri “Oghenekevwe”and Shina Peters (SP). Phina also featured and co-produced Daniel Wilson's “Mr. Ragamuffin” music video.

After moving to Canada, Phina attended SAIT Polytechnic where she graduated with honours from the renowned Cinema, Television, Stage and Radio program. Following graduation from SAIT Phina entered the University of Calgary earning yet another degree in Communication. Phina has worked at local television stations including CTV, Global TV, City TV, Shaw TV and NUTV. She's also a member of Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF) and Director's Guild of Canada (DGC).

In 2001 Phina started her own production company, Phinchic Productions Inc. and has been involved in every aspect of film making from working the camera, writing, producing, directing, and even acting. It was during this time that Phina decided to turn a script she had written into reality. The drama-thriller Missing Link was produced and directed with Phina Brooks at the helm. Her vast experience enabled her to lead every aspect in the production of the movie titled “MISSING LINK” which has brought her into limelight.

Missing link is a movie by PHINCHIC PRODUCTIONS INC. It is a story based on the challenges and triumphs of a group of Nigerians resident in Canada.

The star-studded high-budget movie was shot with state-of-the-art High-Definition cameras and equipment on-location in CANADA and parades an International cast and crew from WEST AFRICA, EAST AFRICA, UNITED STATES and CANADA. Starring: Altoro Prince Black, Mary Gabriel. Maureen Reece, Emmanuel Mensah, Patrick Mac Eachern, Uba-Odi Onwudiwe. Missing link will be in cinemas across Nigeria by April of 2012.
