With effect from the June 1, 2007, luxurious bus operators in Nigeria who exhibit or wish to exhibit movies in their buses will have to obtain the statutory exhibitor's license from the country's apex film regulatory agency, National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) before they can exhibit movies.
They are also to seek and acquire the movies from the right owners before they can exhibit any movie in their buses.

This is the outcome of the extensive consultation and joint meeting of the Board with the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Luxury Bus Owners Association and the Independent Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association. The series of consultative fora which the Board held with the representatives of the various Associations, which included Ralph Eke (the General Secretary, Luxurious Bus Owners Association), a lawyer, Madu Chikwendu and Ekundayo, president of the Association of Movie Producers and the Independent Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association respectively were aimed at briefing the bus owners on the need to operate and exhibit movies within the ambit of the laws covering the exhibition of movies which require the acquisition of license before public exhibition of movies. This conforms to standard practice and at the same time satisfies the existing Nigerian movie law as stipulated by the Board's enabling laws.

The current situation on ground is the dividend of the Board's resolve and determination to restructure and formalize the movie industry through its pet project, "Nigeria in the movies," which seeks to streamline the industry practice to conform to international standard and best practices. The movie right owners are to work out modalities for the acquisition of the films by the luxury bus owners.

The Board wishes to reiterate its commitment to raising the industry profile of Nollywood to a level of strategic national importance with authentic global influence for which beneficiary is Nigeria.
