My heart bleeds for Jos — BBA 2009 winner, Kevin Pam
BBA 2009 winner, Chuwang Pam Kevin, has come out to condemn the recent killings in Jos stating that concerned authorities should seek for a lasting solution to the needless shedding of blood and wanton destruction of property.
“It is quite unfortunate for such killings to continue; the concerned authorities should quickly come to the aid of helpless villagers who are constantly being attacked by insurgents.”
He also shared his thoughts on what he feels could be done to quell the crisis in Jos. “The youths of Jos need to be re-orientated as most of them grew up in the midst of the unrest which started in 2001. It has been 10 years of unrest in Jos; and imagine if a child was aged 8 at the time the crisis started he would be 18 years old now. Imagine what the crisis would have done to the psyche of scores of youths in Jos.
“If we take time to re-orientate and school many a youth in Jos about the dangers of communal unrest and crisis then in the next 10years we would have a breed of youngsters who would embrace peace and not violence.”
The Plateau State-born entertainer also revealed that he plans to begin a campaign to sensitise youths in Jos. “We plan on going on tours and also having outreaches in schools and tertiary institutions. We will be preaching peace and also organise events that would reconstruct the minds of youths in Jos. There is a need to uphold Plateau State as the home of peace and tourism,” he concluded.
