Veteran film maker,Andy Amenechi is the new National President of Directors Guild of Nigeria(DGN).He beat three other contestants-Fred Amata,Teco Benson and Dickson Iroegbu- in an election generally adjudged free and fair.

Amenechi,who has directed countless number of flicks,revealed that his emergence as DGN president marks a new dawn in the history of the guild.

“ It's a victory for all.That was what I told my fellow contestants.They all have to come on board with their campaign promises for us to take DGN to the next level.

So, they are going to be part of the team”, he said,promising to deliver on his campaign agenda.

Asked what the guild stands to gain with his election,the prolific director and highly influencial entrepreneur said the focus of his administration would be on generating a database of film directors,training and entrenching professionalism in the guild and constitutional review.

Surprisingly,the three contestants who lost out in the election have all pledged to work with the veteran film maker.
