Her name is Mercy; but when it came to elimination time, mercy was not shown on her as the public voted her out of the ongoing Idols reality show.

Her height is very intimidating; she is the tallest of them all. But her fellow housemates in Idols West Africa did not allow Mercy's height to intimidate them, they tried as much as they could to outshine her in the competition.

Mercy's repertoire included the Alicia Keys hit If I Ain't Got You, Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing and Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares to You. But this week, 25-year-old Mercy's take on Stevie Wonder's Part Time Lover was not enough to keep her in the M-Net reality series.

For Eric, Jerrilyn, Jodie, Omawumi, Temitayo and Timi, the time for nerves is over!

Now, as they head into the last five intense weeks of the competition, they must deliver great vocals, superb performances and every note on target to ensure they win the support of voting audiences.

That's just what they did this past week in front of an audience that included Nigerian musician, Paul Play. Omawumi launched into Gloria Estefan's Rhythm of the Night with her own rhythm firmly on display. Rocking one of fashion's hottest trends in a graphic printed dress, Omawumi proved she's a performer through and through. Then Timi did what he does best, mesmerising the audience with his take on Lionel Richie's Stuck on You. For giving one lucky lady in the audience a chance to share the stage with him to an emotional response from Ghanaian judge Nana, Timi was a crowd pleaser once more!

Crooning the Celine Dion single, All By Myself, Jerrilyn bounced back from last week's disappointment and reminded judge Dan of her singing abilities in the process. Choosing a ballad as a change of pace from last week's dance hit, Jerrilyn kept her 'few' fans happy with her performance.

But really, one wonders why Jerrilyn is still in the show. Among the lot, it is perceived that she is the one with the least talent. It may be that since she is the only non-Nigerian in the show, other African countries are having sympathy on her by not voting her out.

It was evident that the judges were surprised and not too happy that she is still in the show.

Though she seems to be exhibiting the traits of a cat with nine lives, Jerrilyn needs to work harder or pray harder if she must escape the next eviction.
