President Jonathan owns copyright of some of my songs –Onyeka Onwenu
“President Jonathan owns the copyright to three songs recorded by me. They are Change, How Wonderful and Run, Goodluck Run,” Onyeka said while expressing thanks to her colleagues from the music, movie, comedy and visual arts sectors who thronged the Harbour Point Events Centre, Victoria Island, for a dinner hosted by Neighbour 2 Neighbour, in support of the President during the April 2011 polls.
The artistes came under a group called 'Artistes United for Jonathan.' Onyeka Onwenu, a strategist in the Neighbour 2 Neighbour Initiative could not help reeling off the achievements of the president in the entertainment sector. “It was assumed that he may not continue with the AMA Awards as a governor. But not only did he continue with it, he made it more purposeful and re-branded Bayelsa with its success.
“He has helped to put forward a $200 million loan fund for the entertainment industry in the country. He has also been of great assistance to indigent artistes. That is why President Jonathan is enjoying tremendous support from Nigerian artistes in his election campaign for the highest office in the land today and always. He undertook the unprecedented move of registering the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) as the sole CMO in Nigeria,” she said.
