ALADAMO IJESA ATTACKED

Ace broadcaster and Ijesa traditional lyricist, Niyi Ajetunmobi a.k.a. Aladamo Ijesa, has been attacked on stage by unidentified men suspected to be political thugs while he was performing at a social gathering. Entertainment Cafe gathered that the Ijesa, Osun State-born broadcaster and musician was performing at an event in Ilesa, when the suspected political thugs, wielding machetes and other dangerous weapons, attacked him on stage for releasing a CD in praise of the state governor and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. According to the musician, trouble began, when he refused to dance to the tune of the gang leader, who accosted him on stage and ordered that he should stop singing because he is an enemy of the Ijesa people.

The gang leader was said to have slapped Aladamo Ijesa, who fled the scene through a fence, while the thugs descended on his band members, beating them black and blue. They also damaged the musician's vehicle.
Ajetunmobi, who was full of praises to God for sparing his life, said his performance on Mini Jojo programme, anchored by Ambrose Somide and Basiru Adisa a.k.a. Baba Gboin, every Sunday on Africa Independent Television (AIT), had attracted the governor, who has continued to show interest in his kind of music and has always encouraged him. “I was attacked for showing appreciation to him for the encouragement and support the governor has been giving me, whenever he called me on phone, by doing the song in his praise,” he stated. He appealed to the police to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.
