DJ Chicken Regains Freedom From Detention After Meeting Bail Conditions

Controversial content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has been released from detention after fulfilling his bail conditions.

The development was made public by his lawyer, Rotimi Stephen in an Instagram post.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore also announced the release, stating that DJ Chicken is now free and reunited with his family and loved ones. He condemned oppression, insisting that no one should suffer in silence at the hands of powerful forces, and reaffirmed his commitment to standing up for the weak.

A livestream shared shortly after his release showed DJ Chicken smiling and interacting with followers from inside a vehicle.

Recall that DJ Chicken was ordered into custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State. The ruling was handed down on Friday by a Magistrate Court in Ogba, following charges that he threatened the life of Seyi Tinubu, son of the President.

DJ Chicken faced a three-count charge, including cybercrime offences, breach of public peace, and issuing death threats.

The case stems from a viral clip where he suggested that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 election. Though he later claimed it was a joke and apologised, the authorities proceeded with his arrest and arraignment.

He entered a not-guilty plea and was granted bail at ₦1 million with stringent conditions. The court required two sureties, one being a civil servant and the other a community leader with landed property, along with tax clearance, utility bills, NIN, and LASRRA documentation. One surety must also be a blood relative.

The case was adjourned to August 3, 2026, and he was to be remanded in Kirikiri until he meets the bail terms.
