Health Influencer Aproko Doctor Warns Public Against Risk Of Consuming Rotten Tomatoes
Popular health influencer and content creator Chinonso Egemba, better known as Aproko Doctor, has warned the public about the risks associated with consuming rotten tomatoes.
Taking to the popular microblogging platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), Aproko Doctor noted that the rotten tomatoes widely referred to as "Ata Esha or awarawa," contains poison unknown to many unsuspecting consumers
According to him, the tomato contains a fungai which produces the toxin "aflatoxin" which can cause liver cancer in adults and stunted growth in children.
Sounding a note of warning to the public, he acknowledged that the cost of purchasing rotten tomatoes are cheap, however, their health is more important.
He also added that corn, onions, groundnuts, and grains are not left out, and should not be stored in damp or poor conditions.
He said: "This tomato, commonly called spoiled tomatoes (Ata Esha) or awarawa… there’s a poison inside this tomato that a lot of you don’t know about, but you’re eating it every day
Those white things inside the tomato is caused by a fungus that produces a toxin known as aflatoxin… aflatoxin has been shown to actually cause liver cancer in adults. If you give it to children, it can cause stunted growth as well as other things."
