Wizkid Breaks Record As First African Artiste To Amass 11 Billion Streams On Spotify 

Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has continued to cement his status as one of Nigeria's top artistes.

In an astonishing move, the 'Essence' crooner has been crowned the first African artiste to amass 11 Billion streams on global streaming platform, Spotify.

The record was made public by popular music chart platform, ChartsAfrica, in a post on X on Tuesday.

The post read: “First African artist to reach each milestone in Spotify history.

Wizkid becomes the first African artiste ever to cross 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits."

Recall that Wizkid had recently released a joint project with his personal disc jockey, DJ Tunez, on May 15, 2026.

The joint single 'State of Mind' accumulated over 685,009 streams on Spotify in its first day of release.
