My 2 Phones Were Picked At AMVCA – Actor Jide Awobona Laments 

Nollywood actor Jide Awobona, has shared an unpleasant experience that occurred at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Recall that the award ceremony which is organized to honour the creativity of African movies, had its 12th edition on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

Taking to his Instagram page to open up on what transpired at the award ceremony, Awobona admitted that the ceremony was a strong reminder never to ignore his instinct, noting how after waiting for the after-party—he lost his two phones: iPhone and Samsung.

He appealed to the public to bear with him as he is working on fixing his sims and apps back up and running.

The Yoruba actor also urged those who have sent him a message during that period to kindly send him a reminder.

He wrote: "AMVCA 2026 You reminded me never to ignore my instinct. If I had obeyed my instinct and ignored those advising I should wait for the after party, maybe my iPhone and Samsung wouldn’t have been picked.

Anyways, I am here and still grateful for God. Hello, if you have been trying to reach me since Sunday, I am back now.

My 2 phones were picked at AMVCA. Been busy at work, and aside from the difficulty in getting my Sims and apps back up and running. I was also hoping to get my 2 phones back.
