Davido’s Manager, Asa Asika, Laments Expensive Data Costs And Poor Network In Nigeria
Asa Asika, the manager of Afrobeats star Davido, has voiced his frustration over the poor network and rising data costs from telecommunication service providers in Nigeria.
Sharing his thoughts on the popular microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Asika revealed that he purchased 18 gigabytes worth of data—eight times in April alone.
He stressed that he is mostly either at home or in the office. Yet, whenever he steps out to take calls, he discovers that his data has been exhausted.
In a follow-up post, he detailed the data plans he had bought during that period, noting that he had also spent time in other countries.
He wrote: "I haven’t even been in Lagos collectively for 2 weeks this past month and I’ve bought 10GB like 8 times already. Meanwhile I’m either at home or the office with WiFi. Multiple times I’ve stepped outside on a call only for it to disconnect because my data finished again. Make it make sense!
"For clarity: 27/4 got 25GB 28/4 got 25GB again 4/5 got 25GB 5/5 got 25GB 7/5 got 25GB 13/5 got 75GB This is what I’ve done according to my texts from the network. Bear in mind, in between these dates, I’ve been to 2 other countries."
