Why Cry More Than The Bereaved – Peter Okoye Slams Critics Of Decision To Change Birth Date

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has hit back at critics of his decision to change his date of birth.

Recall that The Nigerian Voice reported that Mr P, in a now trending post on the popular microblogging platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), announced that his birthday is no longer on November 18, maintaining that he will not accept any messages or gifts on that day.

According to him, the new birthday has now been changed to November 30th, describing it as a personal decision.

Following the numerous criticisms and backlash that trailed his announcement, Mr P, via his X handle wondered the reason behind the outrage, noting how it was his date of birth he changed and not theirs.

He further slammed them for crying more than the bereaved, knocking them for focusing on him, despite the numerous problems facing Nigeria.

He wrote: "Una dey vex like say I cancel Christmas? Na my birthday date I move… no be your own, why e dey pain you?
