Actress Toyin Alausa Bemoans Trend Of Staining Reputations For Clicks

Nollywood actress Toyin Alausa, has bemoaned the trend of denting the image of an individual, for the sake of clout and clicks.

The veteran star penned a lengthy post on her Instagram page, expressing her displeasure with the act. She stated that she has kept silent, while watching how people drag others, stain reputations, in order to chase clout, clicks, and desperate relevance.

According to her, such act disrupts her, as good people are not excused from the brunt of such actions, consequently seeing their public image exposed to ridicule and scrutiny over claims from people who have no idea about them.

Toyin Alausa showed solidarity with those who have been through such, particularly in the movie industry, acknowledging that their silence does not mean weakness, because "dignity is your power."

She wrote: "I have watched in silence. I have watched people drag names, tear down reputations, and pour poison into the air, all for clout. All for clicks. All for the desperate hunger of relevance.

And it breaks my heart. It breaks my heart because I have seen it happen to good people. Talented people. People who woke up one morning to find their name in the mouth of strangers who know nothing about them, strangers who chose cruelty over truth simply because pain sells. Because controversy generates traffic. Because in this age of social media, tearing someone apart has become a strategy.

A strategy. Let that sink in. I have been in this industry long enough to know that your name will be tested. People will try to bait you, provoke you, use you, anything to get a reaction they can monetise. They will say the most ugly, vile, unspeakable things about another human being, not because they know the truth, but because desperation has no conscience.

"To everyone out there being dragged through the mud by people who have nothing but hate and a phone: your silence is not weakness. Your dignity is your power.

And to those who have made cursing others their content strategy, I pray you find something real to hold onto. Because hate is an empty house, and one day, you will have to live in it alone."
