A Lot Of Assessments Needs To Go On – Kaffy Shares Criteria Before Marriage

Nigerian dancer Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, has offered insights on marriage, and the need for strict assessment of every intending couple before they tie the knot.

Kaffy made this known in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, noting how her marriage crashed due to her lack of knowledge about it, adding that several individuals are also facing the same issue.

She stated that marriage is intricate, possessing a lot of information for every intending couple to know. She claimed that the marriage certificate has become easier to get than the drivers license in the today's society.

Kaffy also highlighted some criteria before marriage, including mental health situation, assessment, drug test, couples therapy among others that every fiance and fiancee have to undergo before becoming joined together in holy matrimony.

She said: "I was not educated enough for marriage and a lot of us aren’t, our parents are not preparing us enough, living through their eyes is not enough education about marriage.

“It is a special course that needs to be taken, we can’t have a society that issues you marriage certificate easier than drivers license like it’s harder to get the drivers license but it’s much easier to get a marriage certificate but it’s inside this home that all the ills of the society are being built.

“There’s a lot of mental health situations and assessments that needs to go on. It's not only counselling that they should do. They should do mental evaluation of the couple.

“It should be a mandatory requirement that drug test, mental evaluation, couples therapy, all of these things, there need to be a one year programme of human behavioural sciences that they need to go before two people come and damage another human being that they would bring to life."

Kaffy was previously married to Joseph Ameh from June 2012, before their divorce in January 2022.
