The Pain Was Searing - Biodun Stephen Recounts Undergoing Female Circumcision At Age 6
Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Biodun Stephen, has recounted her brutal experience of female circumcision, describing it as a pain that lingered.
The movie star shared insights into her background and how the process came to be, while speaking during a recent interview Diaryofanaijagirl.
According to her, the process still remains vivid in her mind, particularly the pain. She noted how she was six at the time, and her grandmother took her for the genital procedure.
She explained that she had no idea of what was going on until she was told to lie down. Stephen described the pain as "searing."
According to her, the aftermath of the process differs in females, particularly its effect on their sexual activities in future.
She said: “I remember it vividly — the pain. As I’m talking to you, I can still see the picture. I was six. I didn’t know what was happening. I loved my grandma. She told me we were going somewhere. They let me play and eat. Then I saw a woman putting a mat and a bowl on the floor. They asked me to lie down. The pain was searing.
"It depends on how badly you’ve been cut. You’re not really able to enjoy sex or even experience orgasm."
