Pete Edochie Issues Press Release Over Death Rumours, Warns Bloggers Against Pushing Unverified Claims
Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has addressed the rumour of his death, in a press release by his management team.
Recall that social media was abuzz, as a viral rumour claimed that Pete Edochie was rushed to the hospital before his death. It was also suggested that his son, Uche Edochie, confirmed the development on social media.
On his verified Instagram page, the press release which was titled "FALSE reports about
Chief PETE EDOCHIE (M.O.N), described the rumours peddling around as false, malicious, and deeply irresponsible.
Sharing an update on his current status, it was revealed that Pete Edochie is alive, well, and going about his daily engagements.
Noting the effect of such unfounded claims, his management issued a stern warning to bloggers to desist from publishing unverified claims, particularly on issues of life and death, threatening legal actions as the next step if such case comes to light again.
The full statement read: "PRESS RELEASE Ref: FALSE reports about Chief PETE EDOCHIE (M.O.N) We wish to categorically state that the news circulating on some blogs and social media platforms claiming that veteran Nollywood actor Chief Pete Edochie is no longer with us is completely false, malicious, and deeply irresponsible.
Chief Pete Edochie is alive, well, and actively going about his daily engagements.
These baseless reports have caused unnecessary panic and emotional distress to him, his family, colleagues, fans, and the Nigerian entertainment industry at large.
We strongly warn bloggers, content creators, and media platforms to immediately desist from publishing unverified information, especially on sensitive matters relating to life and health.
The spread of fake news is unethical, harmful, and going forward, we may consider taking legal actions.
We urge the public to rely solely on his official Instagram account @peteedochie as the only credible and authorized source of information or statements concerning Chief Pete Edochie.
