You Need One, Two Or Three People To Keep You In Check - Iyanya Advises Artistes On How To Maintain Fame Positively

Nigerian singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has shared an advice to artistes and celebrities on the guidelines to maintaining fame.

The 'Kukere' crooner, while speaking in a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, revealed that he has been able to maintain his fame for 17 years due to "guidance."

According to the singer, he discovered early that he has to put himself in check, and not take things personally. He stated that fame is sporadic and if not carefully guided, can go down.

Sending a message to his colleagues, he urged them to prioritize having one or more individuals in their life to keep them in check and maintain their fame.

He said: “I have been able to maintain fame positively for 17 years because of guidance. I advised my younger self not to take things personal because every famous person or entertainer needs guidance.

“You need one, two or three people in your life to help keep you grounded because everything is going to happen so fast and none of it is real. You’re going to walk into a President’s office, he’s going to know your name, he’s going to sing your song, but it’s not real.

The same guy if you’re not popping two or three years later is not going to remember you. They will have to remind him about your meeting with you."
