What's Going On With Our Drugs - Mary Njoku Calls Out NAFDAC Over Potency Of Drugs
Popular Nollywood actress, Mary Njoku, has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), over the increasing rate of fake drugs in the country.
According to the veteran actress, "Nigerian medications are losing their potency."
She shared her recent experience with food poisoning on a movie set, stating that she sent a staff to buy Imodium from one of the biggest pharmacy in the country, but surprisingly, even after three days, the medication didn't work.
She further revealed that her saving grace was her husband, who returned from a trip abroad, and gave her a tiny tablet of the same Imodium, which worked within 5 minutes.
She urged NAFDAC to investigate the problems with Nigerian drugs, stressing that this is not her first time of noticing the difference in locally and imported drugs in Nigeria.

What exactly are we being sold in Nigeria? What's going on with our drugs?
Imagine taking medication, believing you'll get better. And then dying from something completely treatable, simply because the drugs didn't work.

This isn't my first time noticing this kind of difference in Both locally and imported drugs sold in Nigeria. So I have to ask: What exactly are we being sold in Nigeria? What's going on with our drugs? This is a public health risk and @nafdac_ng must take it seriously. This is dangerous! @nafdac_ng."
