Food Critic Opeyemi Famakin Slams Yakoyo Lekki Over 'Stone-Like' Pounded Yam, Praises Customer Service
Popular Nigerian food critic and content creator Opeyemi Famakin has called out a Lekki-based restaurant over what he described as the "strongest pounded yam ever."
The controversial critic took to his Instagram page to reveal that he had the poorly prepared meal at Yakoyo Lekki, claiming it was so hard he "could barely finish" it.
Famakin stated that the pounded yam tasted "like stones," though he admitted he didn’t record a video to back his claim since he visited as a regular customer, not as a critic.
However, he praised the restaurant’s customer service, describing it as "impeccable, polite, and quick," while urging the management to review their CCTV footage to confirm his experience.
He wrote:
"Had the strongest pounded yam ever today at Yakoyo Lekki
Could barely finish my food cuz it felt like I was swallowing stones
Usually would have done a video but i genuinely went there as a customer and not a food critic so I didnt even bother recording anything
Awesome Amala, arguably one of the best in Lagos Who ever pounded todays Yam needs to be queried.
Yakoyo Lekki, Y'all Owe Me Money For That Stone Pounded Yam.
That being said, Your customer service is Impeccable as your staff seemed to have gone through proper training and are polite and quick. Didnt have any complaints about the soups, but that Pounded Yam is not something Ondo and Ekiti would claim.
Pull up your cctv to confirm and see that i barely ate up to 40% of what I bought."
