Do2dtun Shares Story Of Davido And Asa Asika's Friendship, Says 'You Can Build Success On Genuine Love'
Popular media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, professionally known as Do2dtun, has recounted the inspiring story of Afrobeats star Davido and his long-term manager Asa Asika, following Asa's recent wedding.
Taking to his Instagram page, Do2dtun shared how he first met the duo years ago at Club No 10, just days before Davido's breakout single "Back When" was released. He revealed how he was struck by Asa's unwavering belief in Davido's potential.
"You can build success on genuine love," Do2dtun wrote. "I met Asa & David years ago at No 10 few days b4 'Back When' dropped. What stuck was how he held David's hands & took him to every single person whether big or small. Each time I come across them; he introduces him as the next big thing. He was intentional."
The media personality revealed that despite their close bond, Davido and Asa parted ways professionally in 2013. However, even during this separation, Asa continued supporting Davido's career.
"Fast forward to 2013; it happened. Those who perceive Asa as the not so smiling guy; who feel he is too professional to the core rejoiced after they parted ways. Asa never stopped working. Every David's song during that period, Asa will still share with me 1st."
Do2dtun noted that while Davido achieved massive success during their time apart, something crucial was missing - Asa's genuine friendship and guidance.
"He loved David. David would agree his success during that period missed one thing, the genuine love and the one person who was real with him and tell him as it is. Who would cover his mistakes and never ever throw him under the bus. They are inseparable. It has nothing to do with money or fame."
The media personality emphasized how Asa always treated Davido as family rather than just a client.
"As much as Asa worked on many other things cos Asa na better hustler; he always introduced David to everyone as a brother not as a client. It was different cos he wanted to see him grow so badly. Asa will project each song as a hit. His belief was out of the roof. It paid off."
Do2dtun highlighted how their bond transcended ethnic differences, united by a shared vision.
"These are two people from two different tribes but they just had one goal. 'We must win together.' Nothing can change your stance of friendship if you do it with a big heart and love. No host.. no parasite. Those two, went through a lot. This is the result."
The duo reunited in 2017 and have since achieved even greater success together. Do2dtun dismissed critics who question long-term professional relationships.
"They came back together in 2017. See how far they've gone. The idea that some people project archaic ideas about working for someone for so long means 'it's old and boring' could also mean, they might be the ones who understand how to deliver results. Asa Asika delivers."
Do2dtun further emphasized the importance of loyalty and building lasting legacies.
"There is so much to learn from their stories. You do not have to be blood related. As long as you can give your heart, you are family. Everything is not logic. You can build a legacy with love. It also means look out for the ones that genuinely want you to grow. Keep them."
