It's Better When Nigeria Happens To Popular People; It Opens Up What Happens To People Everyday - Stan Alieke
Popular Nigerian lawyer, Stan Alieke, has given his take on the recent saga involving self-acclaimed activist, VeryDarkMan, GTBANK, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Nigerian Voice reported on Friday, that popular human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, via his X handle, announced the arrest of VeryDarkMan by the police at GTB.
Deji Adeyanju further released a preliminary statement on Friday evening, which clarified that VeryDarkMan was in the custody of the EFCC in Abuja.
According to part of the preliminary statement, Deji Adeyanju revealed that during his interview with VeryDarkMan's friend, Mr. Steven Avuara, "we were able to gather that Mr. Martins Otse, his mother, Mrs. Blessing Otse, and Mr. Avuara visited GTB Garki, Area 3, Abuja, to make inquiries about the incessant deductions from Mrs. Otse's bank account. Following the conclusion of the inquiries, they attempted to exit the building, but were locked in the bank's security door for over five minutes. Shortly thereafter, they were accosted at gun point a few metres outside the bank's premises, beaten and blindfolded by some armed men wearing black uniforms."
Reacting to VeryDarkMan's arrest, Stan Alieke, via his Instagram story on Monday morning stated that it is always better when Nigeria injustice happens to popular people because it opens up what goes on or happens everyday that many Nigerians are not aware of.
According to him, "A bank was hacked last year, innocent people got their accounts frozen some of them went to their banks to file a complaint & they were arrested inside the bank & shipped to Abuja at the order of the NCC-NPF."
Explaining VeryDarkMan's reported arrest inside GTBANK, Stan Alieke stated that an arrest warrant on an individual can lead to the person's arrest no matter the place.

But playing the devil's advocate, if there's an arrest warrant/order on anyone, the person can be arrested anywhere, even inside a bank. The bank officials are to arrest that person & hand them over to the police or they could even be charged for aiding & abetting. Hopefully, there will be some clarifications from GTB/EFCC soon for posterity's sake."
