PHOTONEWS: Pro-Democracy Activists Join MKO Abiola’s Family to Commemorate Abiola’s Death

Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, the president-elect in the most credible democratic election of Nigeria’s history was declared dead in clearly controversial circumstances on July 7th 1998 .

Fourteen years on, Nigerians seem to be unable to forget how MKO Abiola’s died mysteriously in the hands of the military and American delegation seeking to end the political logjam.

Fiery Lagos pastor and convener of the Save Nigeria Group [SNG], Pastor Tunde Bakare, the National Coordinator of the Odua Peoples' Congress [OPC], President of the Campaign for Democracy, Comrade Joe Okei Odumakin and Yinka Odumakin today joined the families of the late business tycoon and politician MKO Abiola to commemorate the exit of the notable democratic figure.

Extolling late MKO Abiola today, Pastor Bakare said he was a recipient of Late MKO Abiola’s generosity, recalling one incident involving Adekunle Fajuyi’s in 1978 when he first encountered the Late Business Mogul.

Yinka Odumakin said Abiola died rejecting numerous offers including the offer of bail for his freedom, stressing that the only way to honor him was to continue to fight for the masses Abiola died for.

“Abiola died as your president, not as my father”, Hafsat Abiola Costello finally said before Gani Adams of the OPC laid the wreath.
