PICTURES: ATTEMPTED SUICIDE: MAN CLIMBED TELECOMS MAST IN ABUJA,THREATENED TO DIVE OVER ALLEGED ATIKU'S N15M DEBT

A young man, Mr. Musa Inuwa, yesterday on the premises of the Federal High Court climbed a telecoms mast, threatening to commit suicide except the authorities of the court accepted a paper he wanted to file to recover an alleged N15m debt owed him by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

He said suicide was the only option available to him after all efforts to recover his money through government institutions and officials had failed.

A court worker said, “When we pleaded with him to come down, the man refused, saying he would have taken his protest to the National Assembly complex but there was no mast there.”

He spent about three hours on the mast before he was persuaded to come down by security personnel and officials of the National Emergency Management Agency.

But the former vice-president reacted yesterday that he was unaware of what Inuwa was talking about.

He said that the man might be going berserk or having some neurological problems.

According to him: ''We honestly suspect that this man is mental,if there is one Nigerian who pays all his bills,that one is Atiku Abubakar.

''If the idea of his pole climbing is to get N2m from the Turaki,this certainly is not the best way to go about it.

''Were it left to me, I will say that the man should simply be ignored. He will climb down when he gets tired of staying up there, a statement by Abubakar yesterday said.

Inuwa, an indigene of Adamawa State, we learnt was taken into custody after he came down.
