Newbies Need To Respect The Veterans, Veterans Need To Be More Honourable — ID Cabassa

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Popular Nigerian veteran music producer, Olumide Ogunade, best known as ID Cabasa, has decided to air his view on the recent scuffle between new artistes and veterans in the Nigerian music industry.

The veteran's post is coming after a series of claims by new generation artistes, especially Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu, best known as Burna Boy, who stated that he grew as an artiste and no singer opened way for him. This led to Eedris Abdulkareem criticizing the singer for making such claims, which led to scuffle between Burnaboy and the veteran.

The online scuffle between Burnaboy and Eedris Abdulkareem saw a little feud between veteran singers and new generation artistes, as younger artistes took sides with Burna Boy, while the veterans supported Eedris Abdulkareem.

This prompted ID Cabassa to make his view known in the recent episode of the ‘Afrobeats Podcast,’ where he stated that the relationship between veteran artistes and younger artistes in the music industry needs to be worked on, as there is lack of understanding.

The veteran said;
“The new guys need to respect the OGs. The OGs need to be more honourable. You are not competing against these guys. If you see yourself as a competition to these guys, what you’ve done is that you’ve mortgaged your honour.”
