Kannywood Loses Another Popular Actress
Kannywood, a Northern segment of Nollywood was thrown in a mourning mood some days ago following the death of one of their own.
Popular Hausa actress, Hajia Hafsat Sharada better known as Mai Aya; in the early hours of Tuesday, November 17th passed on after battling a brief illness. The bereaved before her death was adjudged the oldest the actress in Kannywood died at the ripe age of 70.
Her latest movie was Hajia Babba, which also starred Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki.
Confirming the sad news, Falalu Dorayi, a family member, colleague and film director, said the Kannywood industry is in a somber mood at the moment.
"We received the news of Mai Aya's death with shock. I personally was traumatised because she is like a mother to all of us. I rushed to her house in Sharada the moment I received the shocking news."
Mai Aya will be remembered in Kannywood for her comedic roles. She was also like a mother to many in the industry.
