Proudly Africa Celebrates Amaka Igwe
Proudly Africa Media has decided to celebrate Amaka Igwe in its annual Celebration of an Icon programme. Proudly Africa will showcase the works and achievements of the scripts writer, director and filmmaker in Nigeria. It has secured the Broadcast Right to transmit Amaka Igwe's works.
The programme, which is sponsored by MTN, will transmit for 36 weeks on all proudly Africa stations in the country. Various episodes of Amaka Igwe's works will be transmitted during this period.
Amaka Igwe certainly belongs top film makers in Nigeria. She has made a name for herself with her contribution in the movie industry, even before Nollywood.
Amaka came into spotlight in the 80s through her unforgettable Checkmate, which swept away most of the prestigious awards in the industry in the 80s including: Hubert Ogunde Foundation (as Best TV Drama Series), Nigerian Media Merit Award (Best TV Drama Series), and Nigerian Universities Theatre Festival (Best TV drama Series).
