COUNT DOWN TO HHWA

With just a few days to go, feelers reaching 'Showbiznow' indicate that this year's HiphopWorld Awards would be dynamite!

Telecommunications giant, MTN, has emerged the major sponsor Consequently, rather than have the traditional red carpet, it would have a yellow one.

According to Ikechukwu Kalu, Senior Manager, Consumer Marketing for Y'ellow, the company's sponsorship of the awards is borne of its desire to bring the best of fun and entertainment to Nigerians.

According to him, in two years, the HHWA has come to be celebrated as the biggest musical award ceremony in the country. MTN wants to sustain, as well as raise the tempo of the awards.

MTN also sponsors Y'ello Fest ,Y'ello Top Ten, MTN Loaded and MTN XtraCool club parties.
Meanwhile, from set to performances, guests and coverage, the organisers are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that it is indeed 'Da bomb!'
According to Ayo Animashaun, HipHopworld CEO. The yellow carpet, on which stars will lounge, has already arrived the country. The A list of Nigerian stars in the Diaspora scrambling to be part of this years's event is intimidating.

JJC, TY, Casino, Sauce Kid, Black Twang, and several others have expressed interest in gracing the event.
According to Yetunde Alabi, Head, Talent Department, HHW: “Every year, we want to make sure we bring home Nigerian acts based abroad to show them how we're progressing back home. So, don't be surprised if we fly in all these acts for the event.
According to feelers reaching 'Showbiznow' an A list international act will also attend and perform at this year's event.

HHWA 2007 holds at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, on March 17. It co-incides with the 37th birthday of founder, Ayo Animashaun. It would be televised to over 50 million homes.
In salute of the industry, Hip Hop world magazine will host Nigeria's music crem-de-la-crem to a lavish pre-awards ball christened the 'Bling Party.' Guests will include nominees, record label execs, sponsors representatives and seasoned entertainment journalists. The party comes up on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at a yet to be announced venue. It will be covered live by Silverbird TV, Channel O and Hip TV.
The award was founded last year to recognise and reward outstanding music professionals in the Nigerian entertainment scene. with a bias for urbane and hiphop music.
It is sponsored by MTN, Virgin Nigeria and Close Up, among others.
